STORY ON "GENETIC BEAUTY"
Genetic testing was huge in 2019, and with its ability to let consumers know their heritage, it also allowed them to translate that to their skincare and beauty routines. In this story, WH profiles a woman who took a mail-in genetic test and her results clued her in on her ancestry and in turn, she reflected on what does and does not work in her skincare. So visually, I wanted to come up with a new take on a "family tree/lineage". The heirloom-esque mirror symbolizing her ancestry and the idea of it submerged in soil and surrounded by roots, emulates the idea that the writer was able to find out through her genetic test and how it translated to her true beauty routine/care.
SECONDARY VISUALS
For the visuals throughout the story, used liquid lipsticks to create a genetic sequence that complimented the scientific aspect of how the WH reporter had to do a genetic test.
